Drunk Driver Arrested After Crash On Hwy 229

On 6/11/21 at approximately 7PM State Police Trooper Severson responded to a single car crash on hwy 229. Investigation showed the driver of a Chevy Suburban was northbound on Highway 229 and attempted to turn east onto Yasek Loop. The Chevy became high centered on the shoulder and the driver, identified as 65-year old Randy A. Chirrick then drove down into the ditch. Toledo PD, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Toledo Fire assisted removing Chirrick safely as the car was unstable. When contacted Chirrick showed numerous signs of impairment. He was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities hospital for evaluation. He was then arrested for DUI Alcohol. He provided a breath sample measuring a Blood Alcohol Content of .20, over twice the legal limit four hours after the vehicle crash.
