Intoxicated Driver Crashes Into A Ditch

On August 12th State Police responded to a single car crash at the north end of Hwy 101. The driver,later identified as 41-year old Michael G. Salas of Albany, was northbound on US-101 when he lost control and overturned his Mercury Sable into the northbound ditch. Salas was alone and transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City with serious injuries. During contact it was determined he was under the influence of Alcohol and was also Driving While Suspended Felony for a previous Felony DUII. He provided a voluntary blood sample which was submitted to be tested. Salas was cited in lieu of custody for DUII Felony, Driving While Suspended Felony, and Reckless Driving.
