School District To Provide Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

The Lincoln County School District and it's partner Sodexo announced that any child can have three meals per day through Friday this week, and again on Monday, March 30 and Tuesday, March 31. The meals are for children age 1-18.

Sarah Hibbs, the school districts Transportation Liaison said "Communication is key in the distribution of food to our community youth.Yesterday, Monday, March 16, we served 1,426 meals which reached about 26% of our enrolled students and hope to improve this daily." A big piece of this will be not only the return of employees and volunteers but also the media information.

"Thank you all for the amazing work to make this happen. It's an incredible program and the support to youth in Lincoln County is beyond words. These children are scared, anxious and otherwise -- having the security of meals, seeing buses, familiar staff, etc may be the only bit of normal they have in this otherwise uncharted territory."

Meals are also available for pick up at local schools throughout the county this week and on the 30th and 31st. First Student will be following their normal afternoon routes approximately four hours earlier than their normal drop-off times at each stop. You do not need to be a bus rider to receive a meal and you do not need to sign up, simply stand at the bus stop and wait. For safety and social distancing, please stay back from the bus and a staff member will bring the meals out to you. Routes for school buses for delivery are attached and on the district's website: https://lincoln.k12.or.us/2020/03/14/lincoln-county-school-district-will-continue-to-feed-all-students-during-the-state-mandated-shutdown-march-16th-to-march-20th-and-march-30th-and-31st

At this time the district is not planning to provide meals over the regularly scheduled Spring Break March 23rd to March 27th. However, if this changes they will notify the public.
