State Police Respond To 2-DUII's And Two Crashes

On July 29th the Oregon State Police received information about a possible impaired driver who had lost a wheel near Depoe Bay on Hwy-101. During contact State Police Sgt Tucker believed the driver, identified as 59-year old Larry J. Dick was impaired. After an investigation he was arrested for DUII. After the completion of a search warrant the Mr. Dick provided a breath sample indicating a .17 Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). He had been convicted of DUII three times within the past 10 years and was lodged in the Lincoln County jail for Felony DUII and Driving While Suspended Misdemeanor.

On 7/30/21 at approximately 9:30 PM a westbound car left the roadway and crashed into the ditch near milepost 9.5 of highway 18 in Otis. The car had been the subject of multiple driving complaints prior to the crash. The driver identified as 28-year old Efrain M. Garcia Burns was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital with unknown injuries. Garcoa Burns reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol and consented to provide a blood sample while at the hospital.

On 7/31/21 a red Honda Civic was being driven westbound on Highway 18 near milepost 3 in Otis when the driver, 23-year old Eduardo A. Gomez Castaneda crashed into the westbound side guardrail. During police contacted the he was found to have no insurance on the car and was driving while suspended. He was issued a citation additionally for driving outside his lane.
