Newport Parks and Recreation will be hosting it’s annual Buccaneer Rampage Mud Obstacle Race on August 31 at the Newport Municipal Airport. Runners will starts at 11am. Theevent is unique due to it being the only one of its kind on the Central Oregon Coast. The course is designed to be fun and challenging while appealing to all types of participants. It’s an adventure for everyone participating! Both individuals and teams are encouraged to register.
Event pre-registration is $45. Day of registration is $50 and closes fifteen minutes prior to the race. There is even a Kid’s Race for children under the age of fifteen. The cost for the Kid’s Race is $10. Spectating is free. There will be music, food and a beer garden throughout the day. Prizes are given to the best male & female pirate costume and the top male & female finisher.
All proceeds from the event goes towards the youth scholarship program at the Newport Recreation Center. These funds allow children from economically, disadvantaged households the opportunity to participate in a number of fantastic recreation programs.
