To better serve Newport residents, the public customer service hours of the Newport City Hall and administrative offices of the Newport Public Works department are being expanded. Since approximately 2020, the Newport City Hall has been open for public access Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Friday’s limited to appointments as necessary.
On January 22, 2024, the Newport City Hall offices, and the administrative offices of the Newport Public Works Department will be changing/expanding hours of operation.
Effective January 22, 2024 the Newport City Hall be open for customer service from 8:00
AM until 6:00 PM Monday through Thursday, closed on Fridays. Effective January 22, 2024 the administrative offices of the Newport Public Works Department will be open for customer service from Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Fridays. Other facilities such as the Newport Airport, Newport Library, or Newport Recreation/Aquatic
Center, Newport Senior Center/60+ Center will have hours unchanged.
One major component of this change is a push to remove barriers and ensure that the hours
of city customer service are accessible to all, and the hours fit the needs of more community
members with a range of diverse personal and professional obligations. It is expected the
change will give residents more time to come into City offices, outside of customary/traditional working hours to conduct City business. The Newport Police Department, Newport Fire Department and the emergency response of
the Newport Public Works Department remain unchanged, at 24/7/365 availability.
