On 10/31/19 at approximately 9:30AM State Police Trooper Severson responded to a car crash into a tree near Depoe Bay of US Highway 101. Investigation showed the driver of a Kia Rio drove south through the northbound lane, through the northbound shoulder and crashed into a tree. The driver, identified as 63-year old Erick M. Degeus of Gleneden Beach exhibited signs of impairment and reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the morning. He performed the field sobriety tests and afterward was arrested for DUI Controlled Substance and Reckless Driving and lodged at Lincoln County Jail. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Depoe Bay fire and PAC West Ambulance assisted at the scene.
