Driver Impaired By Meth And Xanax Cited For DUII
On 6/2/21 at approximately 11:18 am Sgt Wertz was dispatched to a driving complaint of a white Dodge Avenger westbound on hwy 22 failing to stay within its lane. He located the car westbound on hwy 18 and observed it weaving badly and he conducted a traffic stop in Lincoln County near mile post 10. The driver, identified as 43-year old Shawn P. Seal appeared impaired and reportedly admitted to using prescription medications and methamphetamine. He stated he was experiencing a mental health crisis.
Mr. Seal consented to and performed poorly on Safety Field Sobriety Test's and was taken into custody for DUII. During a vehicle search I located methamphetamine, un-prescribed Xanax, prescribed medications and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia. Seal was transported to Lincoln City Police Department where he consented to a breath and urine test. The driver was transported to North Lincoln Hospital at his request and cited and released for DUII - Controlled Substances and Reckless Driving.
