[NEWPORT, OR] - At the October 11th, 2018 School Based Health Center (SBHC) Coordinator’s Meeting, the SBHC State Program Office presented awards to recognize and celebrate the high quality, committed work provided in Oregon’s certified SBHCs. During 2017-2018, Toledo SBHC had the highest "well-visit" rate among their 5 to 21 year old Oregon Health Plan clients, earning them the 2018 SBHC Excellence Award. The comprehensive well visit is a cornerstone of the high-quality care provided by Oregon SBHCs. Providers and SBHC staff work very hard to make sure every school-aged youth has a well visit no matter the barriers.
The Award came from the Oregon Health Authority - Public Health Division's Adolescent & School Health Programs. They recognize that healthy kids learn better. School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) are a unique health care model for comprehensive physical, mental and preventive health services provided to youth in a school setting. SBHCs ensure children and youth receive the health care they need, helping them to thrive in the classroom and beyond. The Oregon School-Based Health Center Program Office recognized that it takes strong SBHCs and dedicated professionals at the local level to advance Oregon’s SBHC work.
