Around noon on May 27th, Tillamook County Sheriff's Forest Deputy Billy Cloud was on patrol in the Jordan creek area when he spotted what he believed was a possible small forest fire approximately 10 miles away near the Story Burn Rd area. Tillamook Forest Deputies Billy Cloud and Scott Griffith responded to the area and called in fire suppression units to douse the blaze. "We found the fire at about the 7.5 milepost on Standard Grade off of Storey Burn. Oregon State Forestry, Marshall Logging and crews from Hampton Lumber all assisted in putting the fire out," said Deputy Cloud. "The fire is now out but the cause is still under investigation." Tillamook County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Matt Kelly monitored the situation and added it was a busy weekend in Tillamook. Sheriff's deputies responded to high speed car chases, ATV crashes at Sandlake, medical emergencies along with the forest fire.
