Recreational Salmon Season Closed

Recreational ocean salmon angling closed at 12:01 a.m. today (August 30) within the Columbia River Ocean Salmon Management Area from Leadbetter Point, WA to Cape Falcon, OR.

Through Aug. 22, an estimated 34,080 marked coho have already been landed in this area, and fishery managers say the harvest approached the 42,400 quota by the end of the day Sunday, Aug. 29. This in-season closure decision was made by NOAA Fisheries in consultation with ODFW, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, representatives from the recreational and commercial ocean troll salmon fisheries, and the Pacific Fishery Management Council.
