First Covid Death In Lincoln County

Lincoln County has had its first reported death due to Covid-19. According to the Oregon Health Authority the man was Oregon’s 191st COVID-19 death and Lincoln Counties first death. A 68-year-old man in Lincoln County who died June 16 in his residence and tested positive on June 17. He did not have underlying medical conditions. His test results came back one day after his death. Lincoln County shows another 6 cases today bringing the county total to 292 and there have been 3,709 negative tests.


“This is a very sad day for all of us in the County. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends for their loss. This virus is extremely dangerous and despite the inconvenience it has posed for all of us, we cannot take it lightly.” Said Health Department Director, Rebecca Austen.

It is vitally important for community members to continue to use caution and follow guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. “We can help keep ourselves and our community safe by continuing to wash hands, staying home when sick - this includes trips to the store, laundromat, or to work,  maintaining at least 6' distance from others and wearing a face covering." Said Austen.

Lincoln County has many resources that can help residents or visitors of any background and preferred language. If you experience a medical emergency call 911 immediately. For less urgent care, contact the Lincoln Community Health Center or Samaritan Health. Public Health also announced 6 new cases of COVID-19 today.  This brings the current count to 292 confirmed positive cases.
