Construction Work In Depoe Bay and Hwy 20

To help smooth out the road on Highway 20 between Eddyville and Cline hill and reduce future maintenance costs, ODOT will be paving U.S. 20 between milepost 24 and 29. Crews will be removing and replacing the driving surface and applying new striping. They also plan on installing rumble strips and sealing the surface of the bridges along the route. As a result there will be nighttime single lane closures Sunday through Friday 7pm to 6am and there will be flaggers and pilot cars to help direct traffic. It is anticipated this project will take 3-5 months to complete. Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over and watch for construction signs and workers.  Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.

ODOT is also doing routine maintenance on Ben Jones Bridge, just south of Rocky Creek on Otter Crest loop to reduce future costs and keep it in good condition for years to come. This next week crews put up a system to contain our work and help protect the environment. It'll look like they’re wrapping the bridge in plastic. Drivers should expect occasional lane closures with flaggers helping direct traffic as needed. There will also be construction noise and delays. Crews will work from north to south removing old paint, making repairs and applying the new paint. The historic Rocky Creek Bridge, or Ben Jones Bridge, was built in 1927 along the coast just off U.S. 101. The metal can get damaged from exposure to the salt water and harsh winds.
