On July 31st, 2020 at approximately 11:57 A.M, Officer Bare was on routine patrol when he observed a white Honda Accord commit several traffic violations. Officer Bare attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of Yaquina Bay Road and Hidden Valley Road. The vehicle initially began to yield before fleeing at a high rate of speed. Officer Bare pursued the vehicle on Hidden Valley road until approximately Milepost 3, the vehicle then turned around and continued to flee back towards the City of Toledo at a high rate of speed.
A Lincoln County Sheriff Deputy was able to successfully deploy spike strips as the vehicle entered back onto Yaquina Bay Road, deflating 3 out of 4 tires. The vehicle continued into Toledo before eventually crashing into property on NW 5th Street. The driver, Kyle Martin was then safely taken into custody. A female passenger was detained but later released.
Mr. Martin was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was lodged for the charges of Eluding (vehicle), Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering x 6, Criminal Driving While Suspended, Criminal Mischief 2, and a Probation Violation detainer out of Lane County with a $192,500 bail amount.
