On Monday, April 22, 2024, at 5:39 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 101 near South Beach State Park. The preliminary investigation indicated a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo was driving southbound on Hwy. 101 when it crossed the middle lane into the northbound lane for unknown reasons and collided with a white Honda Odyssey.Â
The driver of the Chevrolet, 74-year old Heidi Fay Rock of Waldport, was transported to a local hospital where she later died from injuries sustained during the crash. The driver of the Honda, and two juvenile passengers, a 6-year-old and a 4-month-old were transported to a local hospital with reportedly minor injuries. The highway was impacted for approximately four hours.
