Newport To Begin Water Flushing

The City of Newport will restart its annual city-wide water main flushing program the week of Jan. 12, lasting into early spring. Flushing will take place weekly, Monday through Thursday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is advised to reduce water usage when the flushing is taking place in your area as you may see a reduction in water quality and low water pressure. Stabbing Leads To Shooting In Newport

The Lincoln County Major Crime Team continues to investigate the incident that occurred on Friday, January 2, 2026, that left two dead and one critically injured. According to Newport Police at approximately 12:56 a.m. on Friday January 2nd officer responded to the 1500 block of NW Grove Street on a report of a disturbance and discovered one adult male deceased from a gunshot wound and another adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds.
