Fugitive Arrested After Attempt To Elude


On May 14th, 2020 at approximately 4:53 PM Officers from the Toledo Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1996 Eagle Vision sedan for numerous traffic violations and possible involvement in a disturbance. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Eric Allan Pullen, failed to yield to the officers and instead fled at a high rate of speed through Toledo. Mr. Pullen eventually exited Toledo and continued westbound on Highway 20 towards Newport, continuing at a high rate of speed.

Multiple units from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Newport Police Department were able to successfully deploy spike strips on Highway 20 near Norman Street which rendered all four of Mr. Pullen’s tire flat. Mr. Pullen eventually came to a stop near the intersection of East Olive and NE Benton Street where he fled from the vehicle on foot. Mr. Pullen ran south on NE Benton Street for approximately two blocks before he was surrounded and taken into custody without incident. Mr. Pullen had an active felony parole warrant at the time of the elude.


Mr. Pullen was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and also appeared under the influence on controlled substances. Mr. Pullen was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged for Fleeing or Attempting to Elude-Felony, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude- Misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Escape III, and his felony parole warrant. Additional charges are pending a search warrant of Mr. Pullen’s vehicle. Mr. Pullen is a repeat offender with previous arrests for elude and possession of controlled substances. Mr. Pullen is currently being held on $250,000 bail.
