On March 9th at approximately 10:45 pm State Police Trooper Wertz conducted a traffic stop with a silver Nissan Pathfinder on Hwy 101 at the Hwy 20 junction after observing the car driving recklessly northbound through Newport. Trooper Wertz contacted and identified the 17-year old female driver from Waldport and observed she was visibly intoxicated. She consented to and performed poorly on Safety field sobriety test's. Afterward she was taken into custody and transported to the intoxilyzer room at the Lincoln County Jail where she consented to a breath test rendering a result of .14 Blood Alcohol Content. The girl was cited for DUII - Alcohol and Reckless Driving and released to her parents. The car was impounded.
