Julie Fiedler's Ocean-Inspired Arts Wash Ashore This Summer at Newport Visual Arts Center

NEWPORT, OR — Newport Visual Arts Center welcomes Sea Change, a solo exhibition by Lincoln City ceramic artist and painter Julie Fiedler, on view July 1st through August 30th, 2026, in the COVAS Showcase. A body of work rooted in a lifelong love affair with the Pacific, the exhibit features Fiedler's hand-formed ceramic fish, tidepool-inspired sculptural busts, and ocean-themed acrylic paintings.

Fiedler's ceramics are meticulously hand-formed and cast from low-fire sculptural clay. Each piece requires research into the specific marine species it depicts, with Fiedler adapting forms and glazes to match the animal's markings and character. The result is sculpture that feels both scientifically attentive and playfully alive.
