See Met Opera’s Passionate Tragedy, Andrea Chénier, live-streamed in ultra-HD at Newport Performing Arts Center

NEWPORT, OR: Oregon Coast Council for the Arts (OCCA) invites the community to experience the grandeur of Metropolitan Opera’s Andrea Chénier on the big screen. Umberto Giordano’s tale of love and revolution, streamed live directly from the Met stage in New York, will play in high definition in the Alice Silverman Theatre at Newport Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 am Pacific.

Set during the tumultuous French Revolution, Andrea Chénier tells the story of the virtuous poet, Chénier, who becomes entangled in the violence and intrigue of the Reign of Terror. Tenor Piotr Beczała stars in the title role, reuniting with soprano Sonya Yoncheva as his aristocratic lover, Maddalena di Coigny.
