As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, Coastal Voices is preparing a concert series that looks back at our history and forward to our future, acknowledging the nation’s founding ideals while recognizing the challenges of the present day reflected in the concert’s title: America @ 250: One Nation, Many Voices.

Said Artistic Director Rhodd Caldwell, “My goal was to create a program that neither glosses over current struggles nor dismisses the progress made since the country’s founding, but instead seeks to uphold our shared commitment to the ideals of democracy in this time of political and social tension.”

The concert opens with music drawn from foundational American texts and traditions. Audiences will hear musical settings inspired by the Preamble to the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Gettysburg Address.
