Oregon State Police and a Fish and Wildlife Trooper responded to Yaquina Bay State Park Beach after receiving information of a recreational boat that had run aground. Upon arriving on scene the boat owner was contacted and advised there were 2 occupants on board the vessel and that they had run aground while attempting to navigate back towards the Yaquina Bay Bar after recreationally crabbing north of the jetty. The operator indicated there was a thick marine layer of fog present and he was attempting to rely on his GPS system in order to navigate the bar. No injuries were reported and the vessel owner arranged for the vessel to be removed with assistance from Oregon State Parks.
