On June 15th State Police Trooper Strasser was dispatched to a single vehicle, non-injury, non-blocking crash on Hwy-20 at about milepost 15.5. On the way to the crash he located a red Ford Ranger at about milepost 4 on Hwy-20.
Trooper Strasser observed the driver of the Ford following to close to a semi-truck. and it crossed over the double yellow line, and over the fog line nearly striking the guard rail several times.
He activated the overhead lights and conducted a traffic stop. While talking to the driver, identified as 28-year old Jessiah Shores he noticed several signs of impairment. Shores reportedly told Trooper Strasser he had drank 1 to 2 beers at Beer 101 in Newport, and had smoked 2 to 3 bowls of marijuana that morning.
Shores consented to Safety Field Sobriety Tests's and performed poorly on them and was placed under arrest for DUII. Shores provided a breath sample at the Lincoln County Jail that showed a .17 blood alcohol content. Shores was cited for DUII and Reckless Driving.
