New Scanner At The Jail To Check For Contraband

Writer: Kiera MorganKiera Morgan

The Lincoln County Jail recently began using a new piece of technology focused on increasing the safety and security of both inmates and staff.  Jail staff have started utilizing an X-ray body scanner for all inmates being housed in the facility. This machine allows jail staff to view the entire contents of the individual’s body and not merely what they may observe on the surface. The goal while using this technology is to detect and deter any dangerous contraband that might be introduced into the inmate population. Items like drugs and weapons pose a serious threat to not only inmates and staff but to the individual attempting to smuggle in the contraband.  Use of this technology is a less invasive method of searching for contraband compared to prior practice.
