The Lincoln County board of commissioners this week discussed the Short Term Rentals (STR) in the unincorporated areas of Lincoln County. County Council Wayne Belmont stated that the goal when they created a suspension of the STR applications was to have a plan in place by the end of the year. Belmont said "I think we had too ambitious of a time frame to get things together by the end of this year".
They are looking at holding two online forums or workshops on Tuesday January 12 and again on Wednesday January 20th both at 6pm. The idea is to get specific feedback on options to bring forth to the board. Commissioner Jacobson said she is ready to get this done. She said she wants to make sure that this time around the staff have enough time to get things together so they can review all the information and go through all the comments and suggestions from the public. The current timeline would call for specific proposals to come before the Board of Commissioners on Monday, February 22nd.
Jacobson also suggested coming up with some targeted specific tasks so that they could better review and make a decision. "This will give the public more information to be able to comment on and provide feedback about'. Commissioner Hunt agreed and said he wanted to make sure things were going to absolutely be able to move forward. He proposed a motion for an extension of the suspension of issuing new licenses for short-term rentals in the unincorporated areas of Lincoln County to June 1, 2021. More information will be posted on the Lincoln County website when it becomes available.
