On June 19th State Police Trooper Severson and emergency personnel responded to Hwy 101 in Depoe Bay on a report of a pedestrian vs Vehicle injury accident. Investigation showed an 8-year old was crossing the hwy when a southbound Ford EC2 struck the child. The child was

transported by ambulance to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital and then by air to Emmanuel Hospital in Portland.

The driver, identified as 43-year old James Shugar of Salem remained on scene and cooperated. It was found he had an outstanding warrant in Lincoln County and he was taken into custody for the warrant and transported by Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy to jail. Pac West Ambulance and Depoe Bay Fire also assisted at the scene. The condition of the child and any further charges are unknown at this time.
