Attempts To Flee Lead To Arrests




State Police received a report of a southbound Toyota Tacoma swerving on highway 101 headed southbound. The d;river swerved into northbound lane near Bayshore on Highway 101. The driver of a northbound silver Buick SUV swerved to avoid a collision with the Toyota Tacoma. The Buick then entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck. The driver of the Buick was extricated and transported to Sanaritan Pacific Communities hospital with unknown injuries.


The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, 66-year old Angela M. Sherlock of Waldport left the scene after the accident. She was located and arrested for DUI controlled substance, reckless driving, reckless endangering x3, failure to perform duties of a driver in a crash with property damage and failure to perform duties of a driver in a crash with injuries and assault 2 and was lodged at Lincoln County Jail.


A Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop the driver of a Chrystler 300 for an observed traffic violation and the driver began to elude the deputy headed southbound on US-101 from the Lincoln Beach area. State police joined the pursuit at Rocky Creek State Park to ensure the safety of the pursuing officer. The vehicle drove into a dead end, where it was

pinned to ensure it could not escape again. The driver, identified as 21-year old Manuel G. Meneses of Lincoln City and the passenger were detained without issue. The

passenger was released a short while later and Mr. Meneses was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy.


State police trooper Severson observed a male in an Acura 36-year old Matthew J. Poreda of Yachats he knew to have outstanding arrest warrants in Lincoln and Clackamas counties. Lincoln County warrant was for Parole Violation and Clackamas County warrant for Felon in Possession of a Weapon. Poreda attempted to hide under his vehicle. when contacted by the trooper. After a short time he complied, came out from under the car and was taken into custody, and lodged at Lincoln County Jail for the warrants.
