Bicyclist Hit By Truck Mirror And Other Crashes


On Tuesday January 24th at 11:48 am State Police Trooper Vera responded to highway 20 at milepost 1 to a crash involving a white Ram truck and a bicycle. The Ram truck struck a bicyclist with the passenger side mirror. Investigation showed the bicyclist a 51-year old male was riding close to the fog line in-between the roadway and a guardrail. The bicyclist was transported via Life Flight to Emanuel Legacy in Portland.


On Friday January 20th at just after 5pm State Police Trooper Nathman responded to a single vehicle crash on highway 20 at milepost 6, where the vehicle rolled multiple times, coming to an uncontrolled rest on the passenger side of the vehicle. Roadway evidence and witness statements made it apparent the driver, 24-year old Dndazia K. Roberts of Corvallis was driving too fast for conditions. She was cited for careless driving, driving uninsured, and no operator's license. There were three passengers, including two juveniles in the car.


On January 21 at 6:20pm State Police Trooper Randall responded to a crash on highway 101 near Cape Perpetua. Investigation showed the driver of a white Toyota sedan was traveling north on highway 101 when the car lost control while negotiating a curve and crashed into a ditch. The driver, 42-year old Cory J. Weber of Tidewater had a suspended license and a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and lodged them at the Lincoln County Jail.


Monday January 23 at 11:10 am State Police Trooper Vera responded to a two car crash on highway 20 at the Burnt Woods Trail in Blodgett. Investigation showed the driver of a red Jeep mail vehicle was attempting to turn left off the highway and was struck by a passing silver Ram truck driven by 66-year old Morales S. Rivas of Philomath. The driver of the jeep was transported to the Corvallis hospital with minor injuries. Rivas was uninjured.


On the same day just before 7pm State Police Trooper Vera responded to a two vehicle head on crash on highway 20 at milepost 5.5. A black Chevy Avalanche was westbound and collided with a gray Jeep Cherokee that was eastbound. The driver of the Chevy was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed.
