Lincoln County Clerk Amy Southwell announced on Tuesday December 2nd to the Recall Hall committee that they have certified 3,940 valid signatures on the recall petition for Commissioner Claire Hall. With the required threshold met, Commissioner Hall now has five days to resign; if she chooses not to, she will force a recall election, which will be held on either January 6, or January 13, 2026. Commissioner Hall noted when the recall began that she would fight a recall. Hall now has until 5 pm Monday to resign or submit a "statement of justification " explaining why she will stand and fight the recall.
She did not give a statement on Tuesday but said she will release a public statement, within the next five days. Chief petitioner Christine Jamison expressed deep gratitude to the 71 volunteers who collected signatures across the county over the past three months. If Commissioner Hall does not resign ballots will be mailed out no later than 14 days before the election. Hall has served as a commissioner since 2004 and was elected this year to her sixth term in office.
Commissioner Hall released a video on social media on December 4th stating "I'm going to fight it (the recall), I'm going to fight it with everything I've got." She also explained her medical issues. She said she fell and broke her shoulder, broke ribs and broke her hip. She added that she also suffered from a bleeding stomach ulser, which has kept her from being out in the public, and is still recovering from these medical issues. Hall added though she can't be in the public eye as much as she has been before she is still working behind the scenes and pointed out her extensive work on keeping the Coast Guard Helicopter in Newport. A recall election is estimated to cost the county between $40-50,000.
