On July 9th at approximately 11:34 AM, the Oregon State Police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver at the Otis Espresso Shop. According to the report, a female operator of a white Honda Odyssey van almost struck the building, and was observed nearly falling down in the parking lot. OSP located the vehicle and the involved driver, who was identified as 64-year old Joann C. Patterson of Depoe Bay. She reportedly admitted to driving the van to the area as well as consuming alcoholic beverages.
During the contact Patterson showed signs of impairment and consented to, and performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. She was taken into custody for DUII and transported to the Lincoln City Police Department. She provided a breath sample that showed her Blood Alcohol Content to be .11 percent. Patterson's friends picked up the van and her dog. She was provided a transport to her residence where she was cited and released for DUII-alcohol.
