On 1/12/21 at approximately 9:48 pm State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a single vehicle crash which occurred on hwy 20 around mp 33. Trooper Wertz located an abandoned silver Honda crashed into a fence and utility pole. The vehicle had been eastbound at the time of the crash. He located the driver and passenger in the immediate area. The driver, identified as 30-year old Joseph P.
McCabe exhibited signs of impairment and reportedly admitted to recently drinking alcohol. He consented to a performed poorly on SFST's. He was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to a breath test rendering a result of .09% Blood Alcohol Content. The driver was cited and released on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering his passenger. Newport Police Department and Toledo Fire Department assisted at the scene.
