On Thursday 1/19/2023 state police received a driving complaint on a jeep wrangler on highway 101 at the north end of Lincoln City. State Police Trooper Katsikis stopped the jeep for failure to drive within the lane. When contacted the driver, identified as 54-year old Thomas V. Stemple showed signs of impairment. After further investigation he the was arrested and transported to the Lincoln City jail for DUII & Reckless Driving. While at the Lincoln City Police Department Thomas provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of .35, over four times the legal limit.
On 01/19/2023 Just before midnight State Police Trooper Nathman stopped the driver of a Ford also at the north end of Lincoln City on highway 101 for failing to maintain its lane. The driver, identified as 32-year old Jonathan R. Hoffman exhibited indicators of impairment and admitted to drinking earlier in the evening. He consented to performing field sobriety tests and performed poorly. Hoffman was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln City Police Department, where he provided a breath sample of .20 blood alcohol content, over twice the legal limit. He was issued a criminal citation for DUII and released to his girlfriend's residence.
