On 11/9/22 at approximately 2:38PM Oregon State Police Trooper Wertz stopped and detained the driver of a gray BMW on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence on Highway 101 near Gleneden Beach. When contacted the driver, identified as 32-year old Islas A Vera displayed numerous signs of impairment, but refused to perform field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Vera provided a breath sample at the Lincoln County jail measuring a .12 blood alcohol content. A dog in the vehicle was placed into care with Lincoln County animal services.
On 11/7/2022 State Police Trooper Nathman stopped a vehicle for driving outside of their lane of travel on Highway 101 near the D River Wayside in Lincoln City. Through an investigation it was discovered that the driver was driving under the influence of controlled substances, canibus. The driver, identified as 44-year old Marissa A Baker of Newport consented to field sobriety tests and performed poorly. Afterward she was arrested for DUII and transported to the Lincoln City Police Department. The vehicle was seized for a search warrant to be obtained to search the entire vehicle. Baker refused to provide urine, and a warrant was obtained for blood and urine. She was then lodged in the Lincoln County Jail for DUII, Reckless Driving, and a Parole Violation Detainer.
