DUII Arrests And Crashes Over 4th of July Holiday


On 7/4/23 at approximately 11:13 pm State Police Trooper Wertz conducted a traffic stop on Highway 101 at the north end of the Yaquina Bay Bridge with a green Jeep

Cherokee after observing a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, Identified as 18-year old Kaden R. Hall Trooper Wertz noticed signs of impairment and observed cannabis products in plain sight. Hall consented to and performed poorly on Safety Field Sobriety Test's and was

taken into custody for DUII.


On 7/4/23 at approximately 5:26 pm Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a single vehicle crash involving a blue Audi sedan which occurred on US 101 near Rocky Creek State Park. Multiple witnesses reported the vehicle drove off the southbound shoulder for no apparent reason. Upon contact the driver, identified as 33-year old Kornie R. Williams exhibited numerous signs of impairment and reportedly admitted to recently drinking alcohol and over-using prescription medications. She was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where she provided a breath sample rendering a result on .09% Blood Alcohol Content.


On 7/5 State Police Trooper Kilacz was dispatched to a collission involving a bus and a van on Highway 20. Investigation showed the driver of the van, identified as 64-year old Hidemi S. Gabbert of Siletz had been stopped at a stop sign at the end of Siletz Highway going southbound waiting to take a left turn onto highway 20 to travel eastbound. When the van pulled away from the stop sign the van pulled out in front of a westbound traveling small school bus with young adults heading to a basketball tournament in Newport. No injuries were reported. No tows were required. Gabbert was issued a citation. A second vehicle contact occurred with the van when he had arrived and backed it up to move it contacting

the back left portion of a Lincoln County Transit Bus.


On 7/5 around 2:15pm State Police Trooper Kolacz responded to a two car crash on highway 101 north of Lincoln City. Investigation showed the driver of a Ram truck was pulling out from a residential neighborhood near East Devils Lake Road on US-101 to go towards Lincoln City. When the driver left the stop sign the driver immediately crashed into a northbound Tacoma. The driver of the Ram was transported with moderate injuries to Samaritan North Lincoln hospital.


On 7/6 just before 11:30am the driver o a grey VW Atlas was southbound through Depoe Bay in the left lane when the driver decided to pull into a parking space to the right, one lane over. When the grey VW Atlas moved to the far-right parking space the grey VW struck the left side of a blue VW Atlas which had been traveling southbound in the right lane. No injuries were reported.
