Family Loses Home To Fire In Toledo

Sunday, evening September 13th, 2026 at approximately 4:45 p.m., East Lincoln Fire & Rescue units were dispatched to a reported house fire on SE Ammon Rd after heavy black smoke was observed in the area.

​Following an initial assessment and a prompt request for mutual aid by ELC Fire Chief Joe Ammons, local responders mobilized a coordinated multi-agency response. A total of 26 responders arrived on scene to assist with suppression and containment efforts, including personnel and equipment from neighboring agencies including:

●​Toledo Fire & Rescue: 1 engine, 1 command vehicle, and 3 crew members

●​Seal Rock Fire District: 1 engine and 6 crew members

●​Newport Fire Department: 1 engine, 1 water tender, 1 command vehicle, and 6 crew members (including the Fire Marshal)

●​Siletz Valley Fire District: 1 water tender, 1 utility vehicle, and 3 crew members

​Upon arrival, Chief Ammons reported that both the residence and garage were fully engulfed in flames. Central Lincoln PUD was immediately dispatched to secure electrical utilities to the site.

​Due to severe structural damage and the ongoing risk of rekindles extending into the following day, crews conducted defensive operations and maintained monitoring to ensure scene safety and responder wellbeing.

​In accordance with standard protocol for establishing the origin and cause of a fire, the Oregon State Fire Marshal was called to the scene. Local authorities and fire investigators are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
