On September 5th 2019 at about 5:30 PM, Tillamook Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an in progress business burglary at a farm stand in the Beaver area. This farm stand had been burglarized on September 3rd and September 4th about the same time. The stand has a video camera system and they had provided us video of the prior crimes.
The suspects left the location and with assistance from the victim who followed from a safe distance and did not confront the suspects, we were able to locate them in their vehicle on US 101 in Beaver. The suspects fled from the deputies in their vehicle driving recklessly up Bunn Creek Rd where they were taken into custody after a short pursuit.
These subjects were learned to be responsible for several other farm stand thefts and camping fee box thefts throughout the county over the past 3 months.
The following subjects were arrested and charged with the the crimes:
Jeremy James Pruitt (32) of Tillamook for 3 counts Burglary 2, 11 counts Theft 3, 1 count Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine, 1 count Reckless Driving, 1 count Reckless endangering, 1 count of Eluding a Police Officer, 1 count of Possession of Burglary Tools, and 1 count of Violation of Probation.
Menika Brook Lin Coleman (20) of Portland for 3 counts Burglary 2, 11 counts Theft 3, and 1 count Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
The Oregon State Police assisted us in the investigation.
Sheriff Horton was pleased at the successful outcome of the investigation and removing these suspects from our streets. All crimes are significant to us and we will do everything in our ability to solve them and bring justice for victims. He also wanted to thank the individual who safely maintained surveillance until police were in the area and the Oregon State Police for their assistance and highlight the importance of the SCAN video camera program and its potential benefits to the community.
