According to a recent ranking by Expedia.com, Florence is the #5 place in the US to pop the question.
According to Expedia.com, “The decision to ask someone to be your legal partner in life is one of the biggest you’ll make, so why not do it in the most wonderful place you can find?”
Florence beat out such romantic destinations as Charleston, South Carolina, and Lanai, Hawaii.
The travel site gathered a list of idyllic settings to “steal your honey’s heart and set you up for success (aka the “yes”),” adding “We can guarantee you’ll both fall in love with the scenery and make a perfect memory you’ll share for life.”
About Florence, Expedia.com states that “The Oregon Coast is breathtaking, with its sloping tree-lined cliffs and rolling fog-filled atmosphere. You’ll understand its true magic when you come to Florence and the surrounding area. The Cape Creek Bridge is one of the most beautiful coastal bridges, and the iconic Heceta Head Lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world for good reason.”
They suggest visits to the lighthouse, a horseback beach ride at C&MStables, a hike on the mossy, forested Hobbit Trail, and a stop at theDarlingtonia State Natural Site so “the intoxicating natural surroundings will enchant your trip with botanical beauty,” then to “let your perfect day melt away while sipping local and imported wines at Le Bouchon Wine Bar and Kitchen.”
Recently Florence’s profile has been boosted by gaining recognition as an official Coast Guard City, a top-10 coastal destination for retirement by Where To Retire magazine, one of TripAdvisor’s “25 Best Family Weekend Getaways With Kids,” USA Today’s number-two “Best Small Town in the Northwest” and number-two “Small Town In America for Adventure,” Expedia.com’s “Most Beautiful Town,” Oregonian readers’ favorite coastal getaway destination, and one of Flight.com’s “8 Coolest Cities You Must Experience for Yourself.”
“We’re really getting known to vacationers, romantics, outdoor enthusiasts, and retirees around the country, and even the world,” says Florence Area Chamber of Commerce executive director BettinaHannigan. “After all, we are Oregon’s Coastal Playground, and all these attributes and accolades prove it.”
