Holiday Weekend DUII Crashes


On November 25th 2021 A Hyundai Elantra was driving westbound on Hwy-20 as it came through the SR-229 junction at Toledo where it was seen driving erratically the driver, crossed over the center lane line towards the eastbound lane. A Ford Fusion driving eastbound attempted an evasive maneuver to the left but both vehicles collided in a left turn lane for SR-229 north bound. Both drivers and the passengers in the Ford were transported by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities hospital in Newport. The driver of the Hyundai identified as 24-year old Jackson J Cross of Toledo reportedly showed signs of impairment. A blood sample was seized after a search warrant had been applied for and approved. The driver of the Hyundai was cited and released for DUII, Reckless Driving, and 4 counts of Reckless Endangering.


On 11/28/21 at approximately 3:25 pm State Police Trooper Wertz became aware of a driving complaint involving a gold Chrysler van heading eastbound on hwy 20 from Newport. He located and followed the van as it entered Toledo on Business Hwy 20 and observed the the driver, identified as 31-year old Alexander A Mateo commit several violations and Trooper Wertz conducted a traffic stop during which Mateo exhibited numerous signs of impairment. He also reportedly admitted to recently using impairing substances. He consented to and performed poorly on safety field sobriety test's and afterward was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to provide breath and urine samples. Mateo was cited and released for DUII for cannabis and controlled substances and Reckless Driving.


On 11/28/21 at about 9:20pm State Police Trooper Zepeda was dispatched to Hwy-20 for a single vehicle crash near mile post 2. Upon arrival Trooper Zepeda contacted the driver of the Mazda that had crashed and observed several signs of impairment. The driver, identified as 38-year old Brye Eluned K Rogers consented to safety field sobriety tests and performed poorly. She was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County jail where she consented to a breath test which measured her Blood Alcohol Content at .16. She was cited and released for the DUII.
