The Beachfront Manor on NW Inlet Avenue in Lincoln City reported visible smoke in one of the rooms at approximately 6:35pm Saturday evening. North Lincoln Fire & Rescue was dispatched to the scene and within minutes three engines, an aerial truck, and additional staff vehicles, with over dozen firefighters arrived at the scene. An engine from Depoe Bay Fire assisted on scene and an engine from Nestucca Rural Fire and Rescue was in route for added coverage in the district. The fire was hidden from view in the void around the chimney from a gas fireplace on a sixth-floor unit.
The firefighters opened the void space breaching the ceiling, while other crews deployed to
the roof of the structure, extinguishing the fire within a few minutes and contained it to two units of the hotel. Flames had damaged a small portion of the roof. Yesterday the joint Lincoln County Fire Investigation Team looked through the scene and determined the cause to be accidental. North Lincoln Fire & Rescue’s Fire Marshal Ed Ulrich commended hotel staff saying they acted quickly in calling 9-1-1 giving crews adequate time to expose the fire and stop it while it was still relatively small. Early damage estimates are near 25,000 dollars, no one was injured during the event and guests were able to reoccupy the building for the night.
