On 7/21/21 at approximately 11:50 am State Police Sgt Wertz was dispatched to a three vehicle crash which occurred on hwy 34 at the intersection of SE Nelson Wayside Dr. Investigation showed a gray Honda Civic and a tan Toyota Camry were stopped for traffic in the westbound lane when the Toyota Camry was rear-ended by a red Toyota Tacoma and the pushed into the rear of the Honda Civic. The Honda Civic was pushed off the westbound shoulder while the Toyota Camry was left blocking the westbound lane.
The drivers of the Toyota Tacoma and the Toyota Camry were transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the crash. A hospital blood draw showed the driver of the Toyota Tacoma, identified as 42-year old Zachary A. Jackson of Waldport had a Blood Alcohol level of .22, over twice the legal limit. He was cited and released on charges of DUII - Alcohol, Reckless Driving, two counts of Recklessly Endangering a Person and two counts of Criminal Mischief II.
