Lincoln City’s City Council has selected Oregon native, David Benson, to serve as the City Manager Pro Tem. He brings more than 30 years of local government experience to help bridge the gap and lead the City staff during the upcoming transition period and search for a new City Manager. David’s Pro Tem service will begin sometime in early June. Over the past 30 years, David has previously served as Assistant Chief Recovery Officer for the
City of Houston, TX; Assistant City Manager and Chief of Staff to the City Manager for the City of League City, TX; and Chief of Staff for the Mayor and Director of Economic Development Corporation for the City of Pasadena, TX. He has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Houston and a Bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Yale University.
David expressed his excitement for joining the team in Lincoln City by saying, “After a local
government career that has allowed me to serve and learn in locales from California to
Connecticut, the chance to come home to Oregon and join a team like Lincoln City’s fulfills a
dream I’ve held onto for decades. The City is well-run with thoughtful elected leadership and
dedicated, capable staff. The community offers a vibrant beach town culture enriched by
unique districts, an awe-inspiring natural landscape, and an unmatched quality of life. I’m
honored to be chosen, excited to get started, and looking forward to helping City Council, City employees, and our residents, businesses, and partners keep Lincoln City moving forward.”
