The Rebels, comprised of fifth and sixth graders from across Lincoln County—including Toledo, Newport, Siletz, Lincoln City, Eddyville and Waldport—entered the final as underdogs in only their first year competing in the Mid Valley Pop Warner League’s tackle football division. Led by team admin Leah Carpenter and head coach Jamie Carpenter, the team embodies the growing presence of tackle football in a region where flag football has historically been more popular.

Coach Jamie Carpenter, a football enthusiast since childhood, praised the hard work and dedication of his diverse group of athletes. “It’s amazing to see kids from all corners of our county come together, put in the hard work, and support each other. They’re the ones running up and down the field, giving their all every week,” Carpenter said. This season marks a particular milestone: many players are new to tackle football or transitioning from flag football, making their undefeated run even more impressive.

Statement from Pop Warner Community Directors:

"The Lincoln County Rebels organization was created to provide our local youth with an early opportunity to experience tackle football in a safe, structured, and supportive environment—well before reaching middle and high school levels. We currently offer three divisions:     •    Rookies (K–2nd Grade)     •    Division II (3rd–4th Grade)     •    Division I (5th–6th Grade)

Our mission is to teach kids the fundamentals of football, with a strong emphasis on safe and proper tackling techniques, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. More than just a game, football with the Rebels is a way to bring the children of Lincoln County together, encouraging them to stay active and develop a genuine love for the sport. We are a 100% nonprofit organization, powered entirely by dedicated volunteers and the generous support of our community through donations.

All three teams have done an outstanding job representing Lincoln county this year! The Rookies and DI teams remain undefeated—a huge accomplishment. DI played with heart and determination, giving it their all every step of the way. We’re proud of every one of you! We also owe our coaches a huge thank you. Their dedication, time, and passion for teaching these kids has been nothing short of top-notch."

The championship match at OSU’s iconic stadium proved to be a defining moment for the Rebels. With the support of dedicated coaches, involved parents, and the Lincoln County community, the Rebels executed a game plan that showcased their growth, teamwork, and perseverance. In the end, they emerged victorious against Mazama, earning not just a trophy but the admiration of all in attendance.

Beyond the field, both Leah and Jamie Carpenter emphasized the league’s commitment to player safety, with rigorous training and up-to-date equipment ensuring a positive experience for every child. The Rebels’ win is a testament to the power of community, determination, and youth sports to bring people together. Congratulations to the Lincoln County Rebels D1 Pop Warner football team—2025 champions!
