There is a long list of those running for Governor and running for County Commissioner position #1 currently held by county commissioner Doug Hunt. There are currently 5 running for Hunt's commission seat. They include Greg Holland of Waldport, Carter McEntee of Newport, Casey L Miller also of Newport, Mitch Parsons of Lincoln City, and Steve Sparks of Depoe Bay. There are 28 who have filed so far to run for Governor. 16 Republican and 12 Democrat.
At this time there is only one running for State Representative, incumbent David Gomberg of Neotsu. Also current county commissioner Kaety Jacobson of Newport is listed running to keep her seat as commissioner position #3. Amy Southwell of Toledo is the only candidate running so far for County Clerk. Those interested in running for a state or county position have until March 8th to put their name on the ballot for the May 17th election.
