Neighbors For Kids (NFK), based out of Depoe Bay, is in full swing this school year,, operating the popular Kids Zone After-School Program and “Little Kids Zone” Preschool for ages 3-5. Since the 2025-2026 school year began in September the programs have been well-attended and offer a variety of fun and educational enrichment opportunities for local youth, along with nutritious meals cooked from scratch on site daily.
Participants engage in STEM, homework help, reading activities, visual arts, music
lessons, martial arts, sports/recreation, and other positive youth development activities.
NFK would not be able to provide such consistent, high-quality programming without the generous support from grantors, donors, sponsors, and community partner organizations. Over the school year, NFK has been grateful to receive contributions to fuel the staffing and operating costs, and the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment needed to provide licensed child-care and out-of-school-time activities.
Funders include the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund, who helped NFK purchase the new Frog Street Curriculum, a comprehensive, research-based program designed to support both academic and social-emotional growth. The Lincoln County Private Non-profit Social Service Fund also supported NFK with grant funds, believing in the importance of child-care and social services for families in the region. Other local supporters of the organization have included the City of Depoe Bay, City of Lincoln City, Lincoln County School District – 21st Century Community Learning Center Program and various
individual donors from the community.
Staying true to fulfilling the organization’s mission, NFK’s board members and team of staff care deeply about serving the community and supporting the needs of each child and family enrolled. NFK invites new businesses and restaurants to partner with the organization by supporting a Dine Out For The Kids Event or offering a Community Fundraising Day, where a portion of the sales or proceeds would benefit NFK’s programs and services, making a positive impact on local families. Local Ocean Seafoods on the Newport Bayfront will be hosting a Dine Out For Kids on May 12th.
NFK is now operating the preschool program Monday - Friday, from 7:30 – 6:00 pm and afterschool program from 3:00 – 6:00 pm, and early-release days on Wednesday from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. The 2026 Summer Day Camp begins on June 22nd and operates across the summer for 10 weeks, until August 27th.
