North County Fire Departments Discuss Collaboration

Tuesday evening, February 12th at the monthly Depoe Bay Fire Districts Board meeting, DBF Fire Chief Bill Johnson presented a power-point illustrating benefits of joint efforts that could be had with new agreements and cooperative efforts with North Lincoln Fire & Rescue. Chief Johnson referenced a 2012 countywide Opportunities for Collaborative Efforts Feasibility Study conducted by Emergency Services Consulting International.


After Chief Johnson's presentation and discussion amongst DBF’s board there was an opportunity for questions from the audience, regarding some of possibilities, benefits and concerns. DBF’s board decided to continue discussions with NLFR, and DBF board members would attend the NLF&R Board meeting the next night. Depoe Bay Chief Johnson gave his presentation, and questions from the audience were asked. Both boards decided to continue discussions at a workshop scheduled for Wednesday this week.


In the meantime, with resignation of NLF&R Chief Kerr to go into effect on Thursday February 28th. Discussion took place for an Interim Fire Chief and after some discussion board member Jamie Wright made a motion, and EMS-Division Chief Dahlman was elected to serve in that capacity temporarily with a 4 to 1 vote.


North Lincoln Fire & Rescue District will hold a Joint Board Workshop with the Board of Directors Of Depoe Bay Fire RFPD on Wednesday, February 27, at 4:00pm at the St. Clair Fire Station, in Lincoln City. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss cooperative efforts between North Lincoln Fire and Depoe Bay Fire. The public is welcome to attend.
