On Thursday, September 7, 2023, at approximately 6:00 pm, a Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, assisted by an Oregon State Police Trooper, responded to an address in Rockaway Beach for a report of an adult male throwing bricks through the windows of a residence. It was reported that the man was also holding an object, possibly a bar or pipe, in his hand. During the course of this incident, law enforcement discharged their duty weapons. Following resuscitation efforts by officers, the man was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The State police trooper arrived on scene and during the course of the incident law enforcement officers discharged their duty weapons. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene. At this time, the Oregon State Police has requested the Clatsop County Major Crimes team investigate the incident.
