Otis Home Destroyed By Fire

North Lincoln Fire and Rescue (NLFR) crews were dispatched just before 11:30 Friday 5/30/2025 to a shed fire at a home on Deerlane Drive in Otis. Within minutes of being dispatched, Lincoln City Police Dispatch advised that the fire had spread to a detached garage and to the house. All occupants made it out of the home safely. The house, shed and garage are considered total losses. There were no injuries reported.

North Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded with a total of 19 people and were assisted on scene by Nestucca Fire and Grand Ronde Tribal Fire Department who provided three additional firefighters each. The fire was brought under control in about an hour. Depoe Bay fire covered the district during the fire.  North Lincoln Fire crews stayed on scene until 7:30 to ensure no hot spots were reignited. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.

In light of this incident, NLFR would like to remind the public to always maintain a safe distance from any emergency scenes and not to drive over fire hoses, as it can cause damage and put our crews at risk. Additionally, ensure that your smoke detectors are operational and have an escape plan in place for your household. Safety should always be the top priority. This is also a reminder of how quickly fire can spread. Have a plan in place, get out and call 911.
