Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Three Cars

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, at approximately 8:21 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 101 near milepost 122, near Salishan.

OSP also received calls reporting a person walking in the roadway. The preliminary investigation indicated that a gray Chevrolet Colorado, operated by 61-year old Renee Ronilyn Wohlwend of Lincoln City, was traveling southbound near Gleneden Beach when the driver struck a pedestrian, identified as 41-year old Nicholas Ryan Perkins of Portland, who was in or near the lane of travel.

Perkins was subsequently struck by two additional vehicles, a southbound white Mercedes Sprinter van, operated by 34-year old Gregory Lear Miller of Flagstaff, Arizona, and a northbound blue Toyota Sequoia, operated by 50-year old Michael Aaron Hadden of Depoe Bay.

The pedestrian (Perkins) was declared deceased at the scene. None of the involved drivers reported any injuries. The operator of the Mercedes Sprinter van (Miller) was stopped and detained south of the crash location and taken into custody for failing to perform the duties of a driver.

The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation. 

OSP was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln City Police Department, Depoe Bay Fire District, Pacific West Ambulance, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
