Quilts Sought For Hospice Auction

Calling all quilters. The hospice program at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital is seeking donated quilts for its annual Quilts for Hospice Auction.

The quilt auction will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 at the hospital. Proceeds from the sale of those quilts will be used to fund services which are otherwise unfunded by most insurances. These services may include music therapy, massage therapy and other discretionary items deemed necessary to support patients at the end of their lives.

“Our community quilters have always been so generous by donating their lovely creations,” said Melissa Maxon, volunteer coordinator for SPCH. “Their quilts help us raise money for important services that help to comfort patients at the end of life. We hope people will feel inspired to contribute a quilt again this year.”

Donated quilts can be of any size, stitch pattern, color and texture, to fit on beds or to hang on walls.

Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, which serves Lincoln County, as well as Benton, Linn, Marion and Polk counties, offers end of life care to patients in their own home. The Albany-based program has a physical office in Newport, staffed by local employees. The program serves approximately 350 patients from throughout Lincoln County each year.

To make a quilt donation or to learn more about the auction and what is needed, contact Melissa Maxon at 541-574-2537 or by email at maxonm@samhealth.org. Donations need to be received by Sept. 16.
