Roads End Beach Cliff Rescue

North Lincoln Fire & Rescue was dispatched shortly before 7:45 a.m. on Thursday August 27 for a land-based rescue on the cliff above the beach in Roads End. The person had been reported missing since the previous night.

911 callers were able to provide information that helped responders locate the person, who was found approximately 150 feet above the beach on a loose shale cliff. Because of the steep and unstable terrain, the Lincoln County Technical Rescue Team was requested in case a rope rescue was needed.

North Lincoln Fire & Rescue, Newport Fire Department, and Siletz Fire District responded as part of the Technical Rescue Team. Depoe Bay Fire responded with a drone to help crews identify the best way to reach the person. Pacific West Ambulance also responded to provide medical support.

Crews were able to reach the person from the beach without the need for a rope rescue and assisted them safely down from the cliff. The person was not injured. Lincoln City Police Department assisted at the scene and helped reunite the person with their family.
